Features
Fusional (inflected) language with a subject-verb-object (SVO) word order. Noun and adjective systems include two numbers and two genders. Approximately 50 conjugated forms per verb, and verbs display T-V distinction. Syntax is right-branching.
Dialects
Phonological, grammatical, and lexical variations between forms spoken in Spain and Latin America, although all are generally mutually intelligible. Mexican Spanish is the variety with the most speakers (112 million), followed by Colombia and Spain. One of the key differences between Castilian and Latin American Spanish is in the 2nd person plural pronoun (vosotros vs. ustedes) and the use of the 2nd person singular pronoun vos in Latin America, which has fallen out of use in Spain.
